Introduction
Our
first attempt at this walk was in torrential rain and the first
uphill part was mostly like walking up waterfalls. The second
attempt, in good weather, was a dream. The end of the walk is
a real treat, bringing you through an unexpectedly pretty wood
which opens out to a verdant swathe of land leading to the bay
with its broad vista of Eigg and Rhum and south to the Ardnamurchan
peninsular.
There
were a number of small communities on this peninsular in the
past, the remains of which can be seen if you venture off the
main track at various points. There are still locals living
in the area who were brought up at Peanmanach. |
